Next month, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will make an official visit to Malta to take part in Independence Day commemorations.
The British High Commission in Malta and the Maltese government announced on social media that Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will visit Malta from October 7 to 10 to mark the 60th anniversary of Malta’s independence.
Malta gained political independence from the United Kingdom on September 21, 1964. On the night of September 20-21, the Maltese flag was raised at the Floriana Independence Stadium, amid the cheers of a large crowd of spectators.
