Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said last week the government decided to increase the monthly allowance of Sri Lanka’s 34,000 kindergarten teachers from Rs2,500 to Rs5,000.
The Minister raised the matter during a discussion with representatives of the Pre-school Teachers’ Organisation in Agunakola Parasa yesterday (09).
The Minister said that the issue was discussed at the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting last week. The Minister said that the Honourable President Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the Cabinet Sub-Committee to increase the allowance of pre-school teachers from Rs.2500 to Rs.5000.
