Libreville, Sunday, July 21, 2024 (Gabon News) – The head of state addressed directly the inhabitants of Upper Ogoué, where he has been living since Wednesday as part of his republican journey that he began a few months ago.
During this visit, the Transitional President visited all the districts of the Haut-Ogoué province and spoke with the population, prominent figures and local authorities. Their discussions focused on their living conditions, grievances and projects surrounding the country’s development, as well as the solutions proposed by the President of the Republic.
He repeated this statement in Haut-Ogoué, as he mentioned in Nyanga, the seventh stop of this tour, that he wants Gabon to get out of transition as soon as possible. For General Blaise Clotaire Origi Nguema, no serious bank would agree to invest in a country in transition.
This stance of the head of state has raised many questions among the public, with some wondering whether the current transition process can be concluded before the stipulated deadline.
“We have to get out of transition quickly if we want to carry out these projects, and to get out of this situation, we need you. The sooner we get out of there, the sooner we can raise the funds to implement all these projects that you are asking for,” declared General Brice Clotaire Origi Nguema.
He added: “No bank can lend to a country in transition, they are cautious, we have to act quickly, we can start some projects now, such as markets, hospitals, and those in the long run, we will achieve this goal. We have to look abroad for funds.”
In light of this speech, we note that citizens will have to decide whether to continue with the transition planned to last until the end of August 2025. According to the timetable, the referendum is scheduled to be held at the end of 2024, the military revealed.
Current trends in the country indicate that Gabonese are in favour of the Institutional Transition and Restoration Commission (CTRI).
