Madagascar is at the forefront of promoting the renewable energy sector! In addition, the MEH department responsible for energy has addressed this topic through the PEI or Integrated Energy Initiative.
By 2030, $30 billion will be invested to provide electricity to people.
The Big Island ranks 12th among 50 African countries as a priority for improving access to electricity. A Madagascar delegation attended the 26th AEF Africa Energy Forum, held in Barcelona from 25 to 28 June, bringing together international donors.
The delegation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Hydrocarbons, headed by Olivier Jean Baptiste, reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to electricity for the population. The funding benefits two main projects: NEHO Sahofika on the one hand and CGHV Volobe on the other.
Other partners included mainly traditional donors (World Bank and Asian Development Bank) as well as other international donors from Canada, the United Kingdom, Norway and the United States. One of the exchanges was organized by Axian, a pan-African multinational company involved in numerous energy projects on the continent.
