The truth finally came to light.

On June 10, German experts arrived in Malawi to investigate the cause of the Chikangawa plane crash and confirmed that this national tragedy was not caused by murder.

On that tragic day, former Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight others were killed when a Malawi Defence Force (MDF) aircraft crashed at Tongwa Hill in Vipia Plantation in Nkhatabe District.

According to a report released by the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation on Friday, August 30, 2024, the cause of the crash was “dense clouds and turbulence.”

The report also confirmed that the crash not only killed Chilima, but also eight other people, and no one survived due to the impact force.

The 19-page report showed that the aircraft was manufactured in 1987 and many of its key equipment and machines were outdated and did not meet the expected standards required for flying.

The report also said that there was a delay in finding the Chilima plane due to a malfunction in the equipment used in the search and rescue mission.

The plane’s emergency launch locator had reportedly been malfunctioning since 2004 due to a battery failure.

The completion of the investigation and the publication of the report marked the beginning of a process in which certain sectors of society falsely accuse those responsible for the crash.
