Now I can say that there is real reason to suspect that Gennady was the victim of an organized crime “attack” and that his wife may have been killed as a result.
The probable goal of this “attack” is to discredit Popov as a potential witness to many major fraudulent and corrupt dealings in Russia and to profit at his expense in France. Apparently, the patrons come from people with bad intentions in Popov’s circle in Russia, from his former colleagues and associates, many of whom now hold important government posts, some of whom were killed after the redistribution of family power following the establishment of the Putin regime in 2000. The organizers are Russian mafia circles linked to the special services. The perpetrators are a Marseille-based special services gang of Russian origin with criminal links to the regional “security” agencies of Marseille and the Bouches-du-Rhône region.
It is too early to reveal other details.
But what Gina himself describes today has caused a sensation, enough for a book or a film. The documents in his possession and that I have carefully studied confirm his story. In fact, he faced a distortion of the costs of the French law enforcement system, a crisis that only lazy people do not talk about in France today. Apparently, he was indeed unlucky with investigators: rumors about his dubious reputation and incompetence also spread outside the Marseille area…
It’s amazing that Gina’s “suspense” of waiting for the investigation/trial to end can last for a few more years! – this is after three years in prison…
