PB Gayani of Southern Province and DM Dhanushka of North Central Province won the race walking title at the National Games held at Mahiyanganaya on Sunday.
Dhanushka finished the race in 1 hour 37.40 seconds, while YS Wimalasuriya of Southern Province and DMD Rukmal of Uva finished second and third respectively. Meanwhile, three athletes from Southern Province, Gayani, Kalhari Madurika and Dinusha Dilhani, bagged the top three spots in the women’s race walking event.
The Southern Province team won the women’s team title, while the North Central Province team won the men’s team title. Nestlé Lanka Nestomalt once again sponsored the event, which was organized by the Ministry of Sports and Sports Development as part of the National Sports Meet.
The ceremony was attended by Sri Lankan Minister of State Thenuka Vidanagamage, Nestlé Lanka Business and Activation Head Sanjeewa Wickrmasinghe and Sports Director IP Wijeratna.
