Defense Minister Yoav Galant wrote today (Friday) on his X account: “In the face of Minister Ben Gabir’s irresponsible actions, which endanger the national security of the State of Israel and create divisions within the country, the Director of the General Security Service and his people are fulfilling their duties and warning of the serious consequences of these actions.”
Ben Gvir responded to the defense minister’s remarks, writing on his X account: “You promised to take Lebanon back to the Stone Age, while you are taking the North back to the Stone Age. Instead of attacking me on Twitter, you will start attacking Hezbollah. Lebanon.”
This happened after the release last night. As the Minister of National Security called for the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronan Barr and the abandonment of the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister and ministers defended Barr, but Ben Gvir claimed that Barr was responsible for the October 7 defeat and attacked Barr’s letter on Jewish prayers. It was also reported that Minister Ben Gvir abandoned the discussion while criticizing the Shin Bet chief, the concept and “continuing to fold and bend”.
On the other hand, a source present at the political-security cabinet discussions said the minister left the cabinet meeting because he called for a break with the status quo on the Temple Mount and not because he called for the dismissal of the Shin Bet chief.
