Purpose
The Pacific Public Health Fellowship Program (PPHFP) is a two-year professional development program designed to prepare recent university graduates and early career professionals for a variety of public health career paths, to address emerging and future public health challenges in the Pacific region, and to expose individuals to innovations in public health practice, health advocacy, leadership and policy.
The areas of fellowship study and training include but are not limited to:
- Analysis and evaluation
- Policy Development and Project Planning

- Health Equity
- Community Partnerships
- Public Health Sciences
- Management and Finance
- Leadership and Systems Thinking
The Pacific Public Health Fellows will:
- Gain skills and knowledge that will aid your future career in public health
- Learn about the wide range of career opportunities in public health
- Learn how to leverage the foundational knowledge learned in the PPHFP to work with the USAPI community to ensure and improve health outcomes
- Build and maintain lasting connections with experienced health professionals in Pacific healthcare
- Engage with internationally renowned global health leaders from the CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), and more
- Improve their professional qualifications by completing project activities and milestones

Potential candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Have a strong interest in pursuing a career in public health in the Pacific region
- Have an associate or bachelor’s degree in a public health-related field, such as public health, community health, nursing, allied health, microbiology, environmental science, entomology, and public policy
- Are early career candidates who have graduated within the past 2 years

Funding
Fellows receive a yearly living stipend to help cover living expenses during the two-year fellowship.
