Police carried out intensive controls on boats, mainly recreational vessels, along the entire coastline to verify compliance with the law and navigation rules.

A total of 78 vessels, mainly motorboats, speedboats and dinghies, were inspected from Ksamil to Velipoja.

Inspections revealed that five ships were stopped in Vlora and Durres for lack of documents and the owners were fined 10,000 leks each.

Meanwhile, as part of security border monitoring, four motorboats were blocked in Veliboa, Vlora and Durres, and the owners of these boats were fined 20,000 leks each for not complying with the security border.

“Border Police call on boat owners and users to respect the safety perimeter for beach holidaymakers, correctly implement the legal requirements for going out to sea and have the relevant documentation.

Border Police and Maritime Police Forces will make every effort to ensure beach safety and in this context they will strengthen land and sea control and surveillance along the entire coastline.

The police announcement said that citizens are invited to call the toll-free number 112 to report any illegal cases and guarantee anonymity, quick and professional response.
