Belleri was elected vice-chairman of the petition committee, Katimelini wrote.

“I thank my colleagues for electing me as vice-chair of the petition committee, which I learned from inside Albanian prisons,” Belleri said, according to AMNA. He expressed optimism that he would be released soon and be able to carry out his duties.

Elisa Wotzenberg, president of the New Democratic Eurogroup, was elected chair of the Transport and Tourism Committee with 33 votes, while Elena Contura of the Syriza party will serve as third vice-president.

Watsonburg thanked her colleagues and highlighted Greece’s interests, especially in maritime transport, public broadcaster ERT reported.

Emmanouil Fragkos, MEP, was elected as fourth vice-chair of the Public Health Subcommittee.

The European Parliament announced that all 20 standing committees and four subcommittees will meet on Tuesday to elect their leadership.

While most of the committee’s leadership positions have been filled, a number of vice chair positions are expected to be filled within the week.
