France temporarily suspends direct aid to Georgia’s budget

French Ambassador Sheraz Gasri said France has temporarily stopped direct aid to Georgia’s budget. He spoke to reporters at an event related to Bastille Day.

“On June 27, the European Council concluded that the path to EU accession was de facto terminated as a result of the well-known decision of the Georgian government. For this reason, we decided to temporarily suspend direct aid to the Georgian budget and to strengthen aid to civil society and the media. It is the responsibility of the Georgian government to reverse the situation so that we can get back to what we want to do. That is, let us continue to support Georgia in all areas,” Gasli said.
