PARIS: France selected 22 players who have never played for the national team from an experimental pool of 42 for its tournament matches against Argentina and Uruguay on Sunday, but without two of its last 14 finalists.
However, five players from Stade Francais (who lost at Stade Bordeaux-Begles on Saturday), who lost in the semi-final, joined the team, as did six from La Rochelle (who lost to Stade Toulouse in the semi-final on Friday).
The last 14 final will be held in Marseille on Friday.
France will play test matches against Argentina in Mendoza on July 6 and in Buenos Aires on July 13, with a trip to Montevideo to play Uruguay on July 10.
30-year-old fly-half Baptiste Serin is the most experienced player in the team, having made 44 appearances.
