(Trinidad Express) Four more homicides occurred between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Kevin ‘Shrek’ Lucas, Shereen Salandy, 46-year-old David Best and 35-year-old Jameel James.
Lucas and Sarandi were shot and killed on Boodoo Highway in San Gregerand around 3 a.m. Sunday.
According to initial reports, Lucas and Sarandi were walking on the road when local residents heard a series of loud explosions.
After investigation, they found both men lying on the road in a pool of blood.
Police and paramedics were subsequently notified, however both men died a short time later.
A team of police from the Eastern District and the Homicide Division, led by Senior Superintendent Guy Alleyne, attended the scene.
It is said that several spent shells have been found.
About two hours earlier, private taxi driver Best was shot dead on Cangari Street in Valencia.
Two other people were also injured in the incident, a 41-year-old man from Curepé and a 30-year-old woman from San Juan.
At about 12:05am yesterday, a group of people were said to be attending a memorial service for a woman who recently died on Kangalee Street when two men were spotted standing on the roadside wearing what appeared to be uniforms of members of the T&T Police and T&T Corps.
Both men were reportedly wearing masks and had guns.
The suspect opened fire on the group without warning, striking three suspects.
Best was shot in the face and chest.
The 41-year-old man was shot in the right shoulder, while the 30-year-old woman was shot in the left leg.
The suspect was then spotted running behind a nearby home and onto a trail that leads to Valencia Bypass.
Once the police and paramedics were notified, a team of officers from the Eastern District and the Homicide Division, led by Constable Ramdeen and Constable De Suze, rushed to the scene.
Twelve spent 9mm bullet casings were found at the shooting scene.
Police are still unclear about the motive for the incident.
James, from Chandy Lane in San Juan, was shot and killed in Morvante around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police were told that residents of Westmore Road in Second Caledonia heard gunshots and upon investigation, they found a Hyundai Tucson parked nearby.
The car appeared to have been shot at, with the left passenger door open.
No one was in the car at the time.
Police were notified and officers from the Northeast Division Task Force responded.
James’ body was found in bushes on the side of the road with multiple bullet holes in it.
He was shot in the head and chest.
Police said six spent 9mm bullets and two live rounds were found at the scene.
A team consisting of Superintendent Callender of the Northeast Division and officers from the Homicide Investigation Unit rushed to the scene.
WPC Billy is continuing to investigate.
While police have yet to determine an official motive for the incident, the killing is being classified as gang-related based on initial intelligence.
