The department explained the information that emerged
The media reports that the Ukrainian secret service planned to assassinate Vladimir Putin and Andrei Belousov on Navy Day are not true and are just a misinterpretation of the remarks of Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. The department reported the matter.
Earlier, it was reported that Kiev was preparing a terrorist attack on Sanki-Petersburg during the main naval parade. Ryabkov noted that the Russian Defense Minister then had a telephone conversation with the Pentagon on this issue. Soon, several portals indicated that the Ukrainian action was an attempt to assassinate the head of the country.
“This information is the result of a journalist’s incorrect interpretation of an interview with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov,” the ministry said.
According to the department, the deputy minister did not give a definite answer about preparations for the assassination of Putin; he only noted that “there is a certain connection with such events.”
The department urged not to distort and double-check any information released by the media.
Earlier in the Kremlin explained Putin unexpectedly paid volunteers double their wages.
