After a successful start to the Challenge League Championship with two wins and a draw, the Carouge Stars suffered a setback on the fourth day, losing at home to Thun (0 -2). Saturday’s trip to Aarau is a chance for Adrian Ursi’s team to get back on track.
The two teams have not met in the league for 13 years and the Genevans do not have fond memories of the 7-0 loss to Brugge Feld last time out.
They certainly didn’t expect it when Henri Koide opened the scoring for Argovia in the 14th minute. We had to stay in the game. However, four minutes later, Stirlings captain Aurelien Chapuis left the field injured and was replaced by Siddiqui Kamara. There could have been a better way to start the game. Fortunately for the visitors, there were no other problems to disrupt the half.
In the second half, the Genevans tried everything to equalize. The entry of Correa (59th) and Vieira (66th) revived the attack, but it was not enough to equalize. With half an hour left, they lost Vincent Ruffelli again, who had to go out injured. It was an outing to forget for Ettore Carouge, who will host Will next Friday.
In the other match of the fifth round, Bellinzona beat Schaffhausen at home (2-1). In the rankings, Thun still leads (10 points), ahead of Bellinzona (8 points). Étoile Carouge is fifth (7), while Aarau is eighth (5).
