A spokesman for Manchester Airport in the UK said that there were large-scale cancellations and delays of flights departing on Sunday due to widespread chaos caused by a power outage in the airport area.
The spokesperson added that a large number of departing flights are expected to be delayed or cancelled, especially those departing from Terminals 1 and 2.
According to Sky News’ report on the unrest, power supply problems affected the airport and some buildings.
It noted that power supply had been restored but the impact of the outage would affect services throughout the day.
A spokesperson said: “Passengers planning to travel from one or both lounges are advised to contact their airline before travelling to the airport.
Passengers planning to depart from Terminal 3 should report to the airport as normal unless advised otherwise by their airline, but they may be affected by delays.”
