First study to quantify global earthquake risk to mineral supply

Golden, Colorado — Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey have developed a new scientific mechanism for assessing the potential risk of seismic activity to the global supply of mineral commodities. The methodology was developed by studying copper and rhenium, but provides a framework for future studies to assess many other mineral commodities around the world.
