Today, the inauguration ceremony of Issa Zarepour, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the 13th government, and Sayyidsta Hashemi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the 14th government, was held in the presence of First Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif and a group of activists in the field of communications and information technology.
Sayyid Sattar Hashemi said at the ceremony: Greetings to our current Imam Zaman (AS), I extend my heartfelt greetings to the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA), and honor his memory. I pay tribute to all martyrs, especially national martyrs and martyrs, to the famous Rajai martyrs, Banar martyrs and Ayatollah Shahid Raisi, and to all friends who came to this meeting with hope and motivation to build a stronger Iran in the coming days.
He added: Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that the National Alliance is the most serious coalition agreement for the 14th government and I believe that this National Alliance should be built and developed in all areas of governance. This consensus should be expanded in the new governance or digital governance. To be clear; my main concern is the revival of cyberspace governance. The beloved revolutionary leader said in a meeting a few days ago: “Legitimate governance of cyberspace is important.” A space that is no longer virtual, but a real reality for people. This is the reality we live and breathe every day.
“The reality is that we should have good governance by making up-to-date laws with the help of the legislature, and we should also govern well: that is, implement the laws in the best possible way with the latest-to-date, precise and transparent approach so that people are satisfied with our government, and if that happens, we will always hold our heads high to legitimize this space in front of our dear people, and we will always answer their questions,” said Hashemi. “It must be acknowledged that one of the characteristics of digital governance is that both its legislation and implementation take place in a glass house. This means that public opinion is always watching us, judging us and reacting; hopefully, this reaction does not lead to a loss of trust in our decisions by society.”
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology stated that when we accept that people now live in virtual space, we accept that we must provide them with the best conditions for a good life, explaining: A good life in the digital world or virtual world is a world of the future, which is high-quality, up-to-date, at the edge of knowledge, which is safe, informative and inspiring. It can save lives, has the power to save lives, and if it is not well organized, it can destroy lives and ideas. As a government, our duty is to provide the best digital living conditions for the people, to inform them, to improve the quality of user experience, and to make Iran a future for those whose intentions and goals make different segments of Iranian society, especially children and adolescents, insecure.
He continued his speech by emphasizing that the development of the national information network is one of the most important programs of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the 14th government. The government needs strong tools to improve its governance status. Tools that can guarantee the best user experience for people in different fields and establish security on Iran’s digital borders.
Noting that filtering is not in anyone’s interest in the current situation, Hashemi explained: “It violates our sovereignty, puts cybersecurity in question, puts family security at risk, businesses suffer, and people become unhappy. This is not what the aforementioned document and the revolutionary leadership asked of us.”
He went on to say that it is necessary to change the existing conditions in accordance with the interests of the country and the general policy, in order to promote the development of enterprises and satisfy the people. On this difficult, challenging and turbulent road of reviewing these policies, I need the cooperation of all state, military and government agencies on the one hand, and all activists of this important industry at all levels on the other hand; without cooperation, the orders of our leaders, the measures of the President, the expectations of the distinguished members of parliament and the demands of the dear people will continue: eyes must be cleansed.
The Minister of Transport stated: I reiterate that I abide by the terms of the upstream documents, including the policies of the Seventh Development Plan, and I consider the orders of the beloved revolutionary leader to be the main theme of my work in this ministry. I thank all the previous ministers, especially the efforts of my dear friend and brother Dr. Zarepour in the 13th government, and I believe that these years have provided a good infrastructure for the development of digital governance in Iran. The future belongs to Iran, and the future and strong Iran are the most beautiful image that we have reached with great difficulty, but everything can watch this beautiful image.
