FBI confirms Trump was shot in assassination attempt

Two rally participants were seriously injured in the attack; 50-year-old Pennsylvania firefighter shot and killedThe gunman was killed by a U.S. Secret Service sniper, officials said.

Trump has used the attack as a key part of his campaign messaging since the shooting, telling a crowd in Michigan that he “got shot for democracy.”

Trump, who was nominated as the Republican presidential candidate at the Republican National Convention, said “God is on my side” in describing the attack.

At Trump rallies, many of the former president’s supporters wore bandages around their right ears in a reference to the attack.

On Thursday, Trump also denied Wray’s comments and accused him of partisan politics.

“Unfortunately, a bullet hit me in the ear, and it hit me hard. There was no glass, no shrapnel,” he said.

An investigation published by The New York Times on Friday said that “a detailed analysis of bullet trajectories, video footage, photos and audio … strongly suggests that Mr. Trump was grazed by the first of eight bullets fired by the gunman.”

Trump’s campaign has not released any medical reports or statements from his current doctors, instead citing Jackson, the former White House physician and staunch political ally of the former president.
