ST. KITTS AND NEVIS (WINN) – The weather disturbance previously observed in the Atlantic Ocean has been officially designated as Invest 98L, according to regional meteorological experts.
The system is located east of the Lesser Antilles and shows potential for further development.
Current forecasts indicate a 30% chance that Invest 98L will develop into a more organized tropical system within the next 48 hours and an 80% chance that it will develop into a more organized tropical system within the next 7 days.
Lesser Antilles residents and authorities are advised to monitor the system closely and be prepared.
Recent observations indicate an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity due to a tropical wave located midway between the Cape Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles.
The system is forecast to continue moving westward to west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic Ocean over the next few days.
Conditions are expected to become more favorable for development as Invest 98L advances. A tropical depression could form early to mid-next week as the system approaches or moves over the Lesser Antilles.
The system is also expected to maintain a west-northwest track, possibly affecting the Greater Antilles by mid-to-late next week.
Residents should monitor local weather forecasts and review emergency preparedness plans. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
