The 2024 Academic Excellence Day took place on Friday, August 23. The event was chaired by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and sponsored by the Economic Operator Lassina Diawara. Awards were given to the best students and teachers in the fields of general, technical and vocational education at primary, post-primary and secondary levels.

The best students each received a set of school supplies, gadgets, financial support and some were awarded scholarships.

“Awaken the love for your motherland in your heart. You can! You must lead all your comrades in solidarity to become very good citizens, and I count on you to be the engine that drives your comrades to excellence”, said the Faso president, presenting the winners, urging them to be worthy of Burkina Faso.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré also called on the teaching staff to do their utmost to build elite schools so that these talents do not end up abroad.


Students pledge to continue striving for excellence to the head of state

For Lassiné Diawara, sponsor of the awards ceremony, we must continue this drive for excellence with determination and humility. “You are the leaders of tomorrow and, as such, you can play a role in the development of our country. This starts with strong citizen participation. Be a role model for your comrades, your brothers and sisters,” he said.


Boubié Gratien Malick Nezien, representative of the laureates and graduate of the Kadiogo Military Prytanée (PMK), pledged on behalf of all his comrades to remain active: “We are committed to working hard, staying true to our values ​​and becoming the leaders of tomorrow. Today’s theme invites us to reflect on the values ​​that guide our educational journey and the responsibilities we have as students, future citizens and leaders of tomorrow. »

Rewarding teachers

A total of 13 teachers (1 in each region) were awarded. The Super Teacher for Primary Education is Bassolma Bayili, a certified school teacher in Sanguier Prefecture. Pierre Tiendrébéogo, a certified high school and junior high school teacher in Koudougou, is the Super Teacher for Post-Primary and Secondary Education. They each received a villa, a motorcycle, a computer, tool kits and a total of 5 million CFA francs.

Lassiné Diawara, godfather of the ceremony

Four individuals and one legal person were awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Academic Palm. They are Dr. Amadou Si Savane, Saidou Bikinga, Chief Warrant Officer Isai Kabore, Marshal Kayaba Sawadogo and the African Development Bank (AfDB). Warrant Officer Kabore and Quartermaster Sawadogo were awarded with distinction for their service in the cause of education in the village of Toeni. These personnel from the Military Police Rapid Action and Intervention Group (Garsi) worked with Commander Garsi to deliver lessons to CM2 students under the supervision of the Inspection and Regional Education Directorate.

“Civic Engagement and Academic Excellence: Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders”. It is under this theme that the Academic Excellence Day was held.
