“I will call the pope as soon as I get the chance to share with him my thoughts on the immoral acts that are being perpetrated against Christendom and all Christians. The Olympics have been used as a depraved means to corrupt humanity,” said the Turkish president at a meeting of his party.
Erdogan initially announced his arrival in Paris on July 26-27, but then said he was unsure whether he would go there, and finally justified his absence by saying his granddaughter had warned him about something.
“Macron invited me. I told him I could come, but my 13-year-old granddaughter warned me not to go because there would be representations of the LGBT community. Along the way, she showed me photos from Instagram,” Erdogan said.
“Can you imagine a sporting event that is supposed to unite people starting with scenes hostile to human values?” the Turkish president asked. “A project is underway in Paris whose goal is to reduce humans to a level lower than that of animals.”
The Islamic conservative president, who has often spoken out against LGBT people, said that by using the international influence of the Olympics, our most innocent people, our children, are being targeted in a disgusting way.
“The shameful scenes in Paris offend not only the Catholic and Christian world, but also us. At the same time, it angers us. We appreciate the legitimate response of Hungarian Prime Minister Mr. Viktor Orban,” Erdogan noted, adding that he believes it is actually necessary for more leaders to condemn this blatant attack on sacred things.
Turkish public channel TRT Spor broadcast almost the entire opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics live, including scenes of cross-dressers participating, which many interpreted as a mockery of the Last Supper between Jesus and the apostles, but organizers denied the insinuation.
TRT Spor immediately stopped the live broadcast after playing the scene, which caused protests from many viewers on social networks.
