Kuwait City, June 26: Sameera Al-Kandari, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Environment (EPA) in Kuwait, on Wednesday reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening mutual cooperation with EU countries in the field of renewable energy. Al-Kandari made the remarks at a green transformation seminar organized by the authority in coordination with the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) under the theme “Kuwait’s Sustainable Future… Collaborative Solutions” with the participation of energy experts from Kuwait and EU countries. She explained that the event aims to introduce green transformation projects, renewable energy and strategies to improve their efficiency to the institutions concerned.
Kandari noted that Kuwait has a good track record in renewable energy investments through its investment funds, stressing that Kuwait seeks to acquire expertise in capacity building, technology transfer, energy efficiency and leverage best practices and available solutions through cooperation with EU countries.
Anne Koistinen, EU Ambassador to Kuwait, said that the EU is one of the most important supporters in the field of green transformation and stressed its commitment to supporting Kuwait in achieving its 2030 renewable energy goals. She stressed that the event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and showcase the best solutions in green transformation and integration of renewable energy technologies, and that by investing in the renewable energy sector, Kuwait’s environmental regulation and economic diversification strategy were also improved.
