There is deep indignation and unease about how the electoral landscape in Ecuador has unfolded, showing a bleak future for our country. It feels like we are destined to be ruled once again by opportunists and even those with links to corruption. The sovereign decisions of citizens seem to be obscured by the cunning of those who seek to impose their own interests at the expense of the common good. This situation poses a real threat to our future and to the principles that guide our country.
Those who once undermined and destroyed the fabric of the state no longer use crime to gain power; now they choose the electoral route, integrating into their country’s fragile democratic structures with the aim of seizing power and being held hostage indefinitely.
It is unacceptable that we have 17 political organizations (and their respective presidential candidates) in our country, most of which are linked to the same people who destroyed our country and are more interested in power and easy money from the state than in truly serving the people. The Ecuadorian people must have a say and a say in the future of their country. (profound)
