Arman Babajanyan, chairman of the “For the Republic” party, and his teammates threw eggs, tomatoes and potatoes at the Belarusian Embassy in Armenia.
The reason for the protest was a statement by the Belarusian President, who said: “Who needs the Armenians except us? Nobody needs them. Let them develop the economy and focus on what they have.”
Speaking to journalists, Babajanyan expressed his opinion that Lukashenko is playing a dirty game and Armenia should sever ties with the country. “We cannot remain indifferent. I believe that the protests of a small number of us represent the collective attitude of our people.” Babajanyan also drew attention to the fact that Lukashenko made these remarks after Putin’s visit to Baku.
