E& and Ericsson signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the ‘Excelerate&’ programme, which aims to develop the technical skills of Emirati cadres working in E& through an intensive 12-month programme.
The programme focuses on empowering a group of young Emirati talents within the E& Group, with a focus on enhancing their talents in leading technologies such as 5G, data science and cloud computing under the guidance of expert trainers, with the aim of developing innovative solutions within the company and making them experts in emerging technology fields.
Ali Al Mansouri, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, said: “We are firmly committed to supporting Emirati talent to reach their full potential, particularly in the field of technology. Our partnership is an important step towards achieving our goal of building the next generation of Emirati technology leaders, in line with our commitment to develop Emirati talent and enable them to become leaders of the UAE’s digital future.”
“We are proud to be part of this initiative,” says Echo Nilsson, Vice President and Head of Global Customer Unit Middle East and Africa, Ericsson E&A Group. “We have been part of the UAE’s technological development for almost 50 years.”
The initiative follows the launch of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the Group’s Emiratisation agenda, while the Group’s partnership with the ‘NAFES’ initiative, launched by the UAE Competitiveness Council, confirms its commitment to attracting and empowering Emiratis.
Building on the group’s strong Emirati talent base (53%), the company is committed to increasing the influence of UAE citizens in the technology sector and ensuring they contribute effectively to the UAE’s progress and growth. In addition to having the highest Emiratisation rate among its peers in the UAE, Emirati women make up 79% of the total female workforce, the highest percentage in the company’s history.
