Government workers in the UAE’s largest city will be able to work four days a week this summer, with shorter hours, as part of a pilot scheme launched this month. Announce The emirate’s Department of Human Resources, or DGHR, said on Wednesday.
Fifteen government entities will participate in the “Our Summer is Flexible” program, which will temporarily remove Fridays from the work week and implement a seven-hour work week from Monday to Thursday.
The scheme, which will run from August 12 to September 30, aims to improve people’s work-life balance.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of the DGHR, told us Local media The plan will also “further advance our vision to enhance Dubai’s competitiveness by strengthening its human resources through the development of smart solutions and innovative policies.”
He said the three-day weekend would help “position Dubai as a desirable city for quality living” to attract talent.
Following the ‘Our Summer is Flexible’ campaign, the Dubai Government will seek feedback from participants on how the reduced working hours have impacted their productivity.
