Washington: Republican Donald Trump leads Democratic U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in the latest poll of registered voters conducted July 22-24 and released Thursday, as the two candidates traded fierce attacks on each other during the campaign.

Trump leads with 48% and Harris leads with 46%. New York Times/The Siena College poll of registered voters was conducted July 22-24 and released Thursday (US time).
The poll of 1,142 registered voters nationwide has a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.
Harris sought to draw a sharp contrast with her Republican opponent, Trump, in a speech to the powerful teachers union on Thursday, vowing to empower the unions and stop schools from banning books.
Harris, 59, gave a 20-minute speech to the American Federation of Teachers in Houston that focused on economic policy and workers’ rights, touted affordable health care and child care programs and criticized Republicans for blocking gun restrictions in the wake of school shootings.
“Today, we face a choice between two very different visions for our country, one focused on the future and the other on the past, and we are fighting for the future,” she said.

“Donald Trump and his extreme allies want to return our country to the failed policies of trickle-down economics, to the busting of unions, and to tax cuts for billionaires.”
Harris’ visit to the AFL-CIO, which endorsed her earlier this week, continues a string of campaign appearances since President Joe Biden, 81, abandoned his reelection bid on Sunday and urged Democrats to unite behind her.
