The Republican candidate for the next US presidential election escaped an assassination attempt at a campaign meeting in Pennsylvania in the eastern United States. US media confirmed on Sunday, July 14 that the FBI had identified the attacker.
According to the security department’s assessment, the incident resulted in the death of one spectator, serious injuries to two others, and the attacker, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was also shot dead.
Donald Trump escaped the assassination attempt after leaving the scene. Several videos and photos of the incident showed him bleeding from his right ear and being evacuated.
“I bled profusely, a bullet went through the top of my right ear, I will never surrender,” Donald Trump wrote on his Facebook page hours after the assassination.
This brutal act has been condemned by the United States and the international community. In his speech, US President Joe Biden said he was relieved that Donald Trump was doing well and was safe. “Everyone must condemn this violence,” he said.
