The Ministry of Health wants to use EU money to alleviate the situation, as regional health institutions are not hiring doctors to work even if they have pie in the sky.
Municipalities can apply for funding to pay for study and scholarships for doctors and nurses.
In this way, Panevěž hopes to add six doctors and nearly three dozen nurses to the medical team.
However, the heads of medical institutions themselves expressed doubts about such projects implemented by the Ministry of Health to attract doctors to the regions.
The Ministry of Health (SAM) has invited municipalities in the country to submit applications by the end of September to attract and retain healthcare specialists.
Panevėžys must pay 383,199 euros in this allocation.
