The funeral of doctor Najid Meghali will be held on Monday.
Megali’s funeral will take place a year after his death, with his family having spent months trying to find out what caused his death.
The Mass will be held at St Margaret’s Parish Church in Sannat, Gozo, at 4.45pm.
His daughter Anastasia Megally released details of her late father’s funeral on Saturday.
Megaly, a fetal medicine specialist at Mater Dei Hospital, died on July 5, 2023, due to medical complications.
Megali had a long and complicated medical history of a neuromuscular disease that, according to his family, was not adequately diagnosed and evaluated before he was treated with medication during his final weeks in hospital.
His wife and children have been demanding a judicial investigation to find out the cause of his death. The family has repeatedly requested an autopsy, insisting that it should be conducted within the scope of a judicial investigation.
The family sought judicial authorization in the criminal court but was unsuccessful.
The family also claimed that the hospital authorities withheld Meghali’s body “hostage” Spent months in the morgue.
