A Finderney Hospital doctor who has been charged with menacing after he pointed a gun at another person following a traffic altercation earlier this month was interviewed Friday and told of his suspicious condition.
Prosecutors from the Public Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Second District Court of Bucharest announced in a press release issued on Monday that the doctor who pulled out a gun after the traffic conflict has been named a suspect. “By decree of the Criminal Investigation Agency, article 7 of August 7, 2024, and confirmed by the Public Prosecutor on October 7, 2024, it is ordered to continue the criminal investigation against the person who committed the crime of threats, supra art. 206, para. 1 of the Criminal Code, which includes that, on July 3, 2024, around 07:00, during a spontaneous conflict sparked by a traffic disturbance, he threatened with a gun in front of the injured person at the hospital located in District 2, thereby putting the injured person in a state of fear”, the statement of the Public Prosecutor’s Office said. On Friday, the doctor was invited to the headquarters of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where he was informed that he was a suspect and was questioned in this capacity. The Public Prosecutor explicitly noted that no precautionary measures were taken against the suspect.
Initially, in this case, the investigation was an investigation of property. On July 3, a driver accused a doctor at the Fondene Hospital of threatening him with a gun after a traffic conflict. In addition, when the threatened person called 112 to inform the police to check his car and medical examination, the doctor might have tried to escape. Two air guns and a machete were found in the car.
He later explained his attitude in a Facebook post, saying he believed the plaintiff driver’s reckless behavior put his life in danger and that he grabbed the air rifle “in a moment of panic.” The doctor wrote: “While there is no reason to justify my actions, and I deeply regret it, this incident also occurred in the context of overwork,” and pointed out that this incident does not reflect his behavior as a doctor or the ethical and professional standards of Fenton Hospital.
