A list of names was sent to police before some party members were banned from attending the third day of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) annual conference, which began with a church service on Sunday.
Acting President Andre Worrell was interviewed by Starcom Network yesterday‘Popular radio call-in show Down To Brass Tacks explained the chaos at the weekend Democratic Labour Party (DLP) conference which led to police reinforcements being called in. Chaotic scenes at the conference on Saturday and Sunday and speculation about relationships within the party formed part of the discussion.
The three-day conference reached its climax on Sunday when many people, including long-time members, were barred from entering the SLP headquarters on George Street in St Michael for a routine ceremony. Those turned away included expelled chairman Dr Ronnie Yearwood and secretary general Steve Blackett, second vice-chairman Walter Maloney and Young Democrats chairwoman Tera Trotman.
Worrell, who hosted the show, told host David Ellis that Yearwood and Blackett had been informed by letter that they had been evicted and were not to trespass on the property.
