Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne has announced a team of spokespersons for the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) who will be tasked with tackling a wide range of national issues.
The announcement was made at the closing ceremony of the SLP’s 69th annual conference at its George Street headquarters.
Thorne himself will be in charge of finance, public sector affairs and urban development, while former party leader Vera de Pesa will be in charge of issues related to the Attorney General’s Office and interior affairs.
Senator Ryan Walters is responsible for energy, small business development, entrepreneurship and housing.
Dr. David Estwick was in charge of economic affairs, life insurance underwriter Alvin Toppin was in charge of cultural affairs, Amoy Gilding Bourne was in charge of agricultural affairs, acting president Andre Worrell was in charge of health affairs, and Andrew Cave was in charge of maritime affairs.
In addition, Felicia Dujon has been named as education spokesperson, Paul Gibson will speak on environmental issues and Pedro Shepherd, secretary general of the Democratic Labour Party, will talk about transport, public works and rural development.
Lawyer Neil Marshall has been given responsibility for labour and industrial relations, Shaquanie Hunte will look after youth affairs, Simon Clarke will look after community development and Dawn Marie Armstrong will look after sports affairs.
Former Tourism Minister Richard Seeley will continue to speak out on these issues.
In his speech, Thorne urged the team to fully discharge their duties and respond to the government on behalf of the people.
