Despite the brutal genocidal campaign by the Israeli occupation forces to eliminate the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinians, the occupation plan has produced adverse results, with the Palestinian flag raised on the official and popular stage of Europe, while the occupation has turned into a pariah state. The governments of Spain and Ireland met yesterday in Madrid and Dublin to formally approve the decision to recognize the State of Palestine, and Norway sent a verbal note to the new Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa on Sunday, indicating that this recognition will take effect on Tuesday. In a brief statement, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that the recognition of the State of Palestine, in addition to being a “historical issue” for the Palestinian people, is also “a necessary condition for peace.”
Preventing disaster
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said: “Ireland’s decision is about maintaining hope in the Middle East.”
Harris urged the Israeli prime minister to “listen to the world and stop the humanitarian disaster we are witnessing in Gaza.”
In Norway, Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide hailed the decision as a “historic day” for Norway, which has “been one of the staunchest defenders of a Palestinian state for three decades”. He said it was “unfortunate that the Israeli government has shown no evidence of constructive engagement” and called on the international community to redouble its efforts to support a two-state solution. It wants three European countries, two of which are EU members (Spain and Ireland).
Slovenia also announced that it was recognizing the State of Palestine. Other member states, such as France, believe that the time is not right, while Germany does not consider such recognition unless it is the result of negotiations between the two sides. Among the 193 member states of the United Nations, 145 countries have recognized the State of Palestine.

In Paris, Sebastien Delogne, deputy of the Proud France party (extreme left), raised the Palestinian flag yesterday in the National Assembly when he asked the government questions about the situation in the Gaza Strip.
In Copenhagen, the University of Copenhagen said it would stop investing in companies with commercial activities in the occupied West Bank, as protests led by hundreds of students forced the university to sever financial and institutional ties with the occupation authorities. Opposition to Israeli violations in Gaza was expressed on campus in early May. The university said on its website “X” that it would withdraw all its holdings in Airbnb, Booking.com and e.Dreams, with a total value of about 1 million Danish kroner ($145,810) as of May 29. The university added that it would work with the fund management company to manage its investments and ensure it complies with the United Nations list of companies with commercial activities in illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The University of Copenhagen has annual revenues of more than 10 billion kroner.
