Serbian rapper Dragomir Despić, better known as “Desingerica,” faces temporary deportation from Montenegro after the police department revoked his residency. The decision was made because Despić did not have a valid work permit or registered residence on the Montenegrin coast, where he often performs during the summer.
The rapper announced his news through his social networks, expressing regret for the situation. “We are sorry that we did not meet last night at Top Hill because I had some paperwork problems. Budva and Montenegro are my second home and of course we did not want to break the laws of that country,” Despich wrote.
Desingerica began his music career in 2022 and quickly gained attention from young audiences as well as regional media. However, his controversial performances this summer sparked numerous reactions, including public calls for him to be banned from performing in Montenegro, as some said, for “promoting wrong values.”
Budva City Vice President Jasna Dokić responded to a performance by Despic in late July, in which the rapper included unusual moves such as “hitting his head with a sneaker” and “grating cheese on the audience.” Dokić called for clear standards for events in Budva, stating that the “messages and values” spread by the performer were “extremely inappropriate and unacceptable.”
Despite her appeals, Desinjelica continued his performances almost every day, suggesting that Budva’s restaurant owners did not heed her call for a boycott. His temporary departure from Montenegro was undoubtedly one of the most significant moments in his short and intense career.
