Most respondents said that “democracy is preferable to any other form of government.”

The survey, which collected a broad sample of opinions, showed strong support for democracy across countries, although there were significant differences between countries.

Argentina topped the list, with 80% of citizens preferring democracy.

The detailed results are as follows: Argentina 80%, Costa Rica: 66%, Colombia: 64%, Dominican Republic 59%, Panama 56%, Peru 54%, Bolivia 54%, Ecuador 50%, El Salvador 50%, Guatemala: 41%, Nicaragua 41% and Honduras 33%
