The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), representing the country’s business community, has called for restoration of law and order across the country, including in Dhaka city.

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), representing the country’s business community, has called for restoration of law and order across the country, including in Dhaka city.

The group also called for the immediate formation and proclamation of a legally binding interim government to improve law and order and minimize economic damage.

The group made the call in a press statement on Tuesday (August 6).

The statement said that due to the recent political turmoil in the country, economic activities across the country have been severely disrupted. Appropriate measures need to be taken to make up for this huge loss and improve the overall security situation in the country.

The series of recent events have greatly affected the lives of the people and the economy of the country. DCCIE believes that if appropriate action is not taken at this time, the supply chain will be disrupted and the damage and public suffering will increase further.

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce believes that for the greater good of the country, economic activities should be activated at full speed. It is important to provide urgent and necessary support to the private sector, which is regarded as the main driver of the country’s economy, to make up for the damage caused to the country’s economy in the recent instability. DCCI believes that the relevant parties should give priority to developing the existing law and order situation in the country and restoring economic stability.

It is imperative to create an enabling environment to facilitate the process of economic recovery in the country. By creating a stable political environment, the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce will be able to rebuild business confidence and activities both within and outside the country. The DCCI hopes that the soon-to-be-formed interim government, the private sector, political parties and all stakeholders including the concerned parties will be able to initiate a strong and sustainable economic recovery process, thereby mitigating the recent losses to a great extent.

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce is determined to work together with all parties concerned and even the next interim government to overcome the current situation and promote the overall development of the country.
