Transitional President Colonel Assimi Gota carried out a technical reorganization of the government on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Daniel Simon Kelema replaced Lassine Dembl as Minister of Agriculture.

The mini-reshuffle was announced on state television by Professor Afusseni Diawara, Secretary to the Minister of the Presidency of the Republic.

The former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture announced his retirement on December 31, 2023, and the new Minister of Agriculture, Daniel Simon Kelema, was appointed as the Special Adviser to the President last February. The new head of the agriculture department is considered to be a well-rounded executive, a courageous and hardworking executive, and undoubtedly a familiar figure.

Its main challenge will be to manage current agricultural activities in the context of an energy crisis that weakens the economic situation and has a significant impact on the agricultural sector.

In addition, Dr. Nango Dembl, CEO of the Mali Holding for the Development of Textiles (CMDT), was also replaced by Professor of Higher Education Mamadou Moustapha Diarra.

The information was provided through the communique of the ministerial meeting held on the same Tuesday.
