CNMI authorities continue to battle a wildfire that broke out Tuesday afternoon in Wireless Ridge, Saipan. The CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said initial reports were issued at 3:21 p.m. on April 2, reporting black smoke in the Wireless Ridge and Department of Public Safety shooting range areas. Since that time, CNMI Fire and EMS have been closely monitoring the wildfire. CNMI HealthCare recommends that all residents and visitors, especially those with asthma, chronic illness, COPD, other pre-existing respiratory conditions, children or pregnant women, minimize time outdoors and avoid going out when smoke is visible or smelled.
