At more than 4,100 meters above sea level, cow mothers from the Velier region of the Cusco province of Chubivilcas perfected the production process of natural yogurt and gastronomy during training at Tambo Tarasaca Pampa, part of the National PAIS Program of the Ministry of Development and Inclusive Society (Midis).
In cooperation with the District and Municipal Local Economic Development Office (ODEL), they come to this service platform once a week to learn about the different stages of yogurt production, including filtering, pasteurization, inoculation, cooling, packaging and storage. In terms of gastronomy, they also receive training on the filtering, heating, cooking, cooling, packaging, storage and sales processes.
With this new knowledge, they seek to improve the quality of their products, participate in regional fairs, and start businesses that generate additional economic income for their family’s well-being and personal growth.
“This training is part of a program of work to promote community development. The production of yogurt and delicacies is gradually increasing, mainly for feeding children. The participation of the mothers is positive, as they have received training in the Quechua language to increase confidence and understanding,” highlights Marcelino Chañi, manager of Tambo Tarasaca Pampa.

On the other hand, more than 80 people in nearby communities received guidance and payment for vouchers from the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE) to purchase household gas, which aims to ease the household finances of low-income families.
