The woman (35) and man (32) from Udenhout were arrested on Friday afternoon. They were suspected of vandalism and theft at the club in the Sportpark Sportland. MHC Udenhout chairman Erwin van Kekem hopes to recover the losses from them. The two are said to have committed similar acts before.
According to Van Kekem, one board member was shocked to have to stay in the club’s pavilion on Friday afternoon. Van Kekem: “Doors were out of place, windows were broken. A lot of things inside were destroyed as well. A storage container was damaged as well. All in all, we had a lot of housekeeping work,” Van Kekem said.
He does not yet know exactly what was deleted. “In any case, cash register tablets, iPads, no longer require cash payments.” Trash bags from “hockey neighbors,” garbage bags filled with food and drinks, large bags filled with empty bottles and a broom were found at the SvSSS. “It’s really strange, very unusual,” said another board member. “The fryer was also on, and a lot of food was eaten.”
Van Keken believes that the suspension of training and competitions during the holiday period is a blessing in disguise. “But measures must be taken to properly close our clubhouse again, even if only temporarily.”
The police have so far reported that the woman and the man simply parted at “a football club on the Sportlaan”. This was seen by an eyewitness. He told the police that the two then ran away and he chased them. He also gave a good description. Subsequently, several police cars were sent to Udenhout to arrest the suspect.
The officers spoke to reporters at Burkhock. He pointed them to the suspects who were walking on the other side of the tracks. It didn’t take much for the police to arrest the two men. They tried to evade arrest with excuses and fake names, but they betrayed themselves. The police said the cold bottles in their bags must have been fresh from the freezer, which eliminated any doubts that they were suspects in the burglary.
The couple were taken to the police station and charged with burglary and vandalism. You will also be charged with giving a false name.
According to the hockey club, the forensic investigation team will also conduct a trace investigation in the cafeteria.
