With 60 years of history, the cooperative has consolidated its position as the country’s main marketer and exporter of meat, and has had a significant impact on Costa Rica’s economic and social development.
Cooper Montesillos The cooperative has the most modern plant in Central America and, in addition to being the leader in Costa Rica, is now present in eight countries, consolidating its leadership as the largest exporter, accounting for 56% of all meat exports from Costa Rica.

CoopeMontecillos’ continuous improvement is a testament to its ability to adapt and evolve. Since 2012, the cooperative has increased its meat sales from 20,566 tons to 45,156 tons in 2023, a growth that reflects its commitment to excellence.

In addition, the processing volume of beef and pigs has increased significantly, by 150% and 80% respectively, which shows their technical and human capabilities.
This progress has been made possible thanks to the efforts and dedication of the nearly 2,000 employees and producers who are at the heart of CoopeMontecillos.

Their dedication and experience have kept the cooperative at the forefront of the industry, with sales approaching $250 million by 2023. With 30 meat centers established and under construction across the country, CoopeMontecillos continues to expand its reach with a focus on quality and sustainability.
