Co-operative Bank’s Mco-opCash suffers technical glitches

Kenya’s Co-op Bank announced this evening that its mobile money service, Mco-opCash, had experienced technical difficulties.

The Tier 1 bank acknowledged the challenge in a statement posted on X and advised users to avail alternative banking channels for their immediate financial needs. The bank did not disclose the nature of the technical glitch and the estimated time for restoration of services.

Mco-opCash is a widely used mobile Banking platforms in Kenyaallowing users to conduct various transactions such as transferring money, paying bills, purchasing airtime, etc. directly from their mobile phones.

“Currently, the mco-opcash service is experiencing a bit of technical challenges. Our support team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you can use your ATM card for transactions or use (*667). We apologize for the inconvenience,” the statement read.

The bank did not specify the cause of the technical failure or whether other banking services were affected. It also did not say how customers would be notified when Mco-op cash services were restored.
