Claudia Sheinbaum “is not Fifi”, says Obrador: “Replacement guaranteed”

Mexico City (apro) – In his first visit of the last quarter of his term, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accompanied by his virtual successor, Claudia Scheinbaum Pardo, met today with the Yaqui people, who lamented:

“There is nothing to worry about, relief is guaranteed and there will be continuity in all welfare schemes for our people,” the President said.

Sheinbaum “has always fought for justice since she was a kid. She’s not Fifi, you know? “She’s always fought for the poor, for the needy, for the good causes.”

The meeting with the Yaqui was not without symbolism. Like the Mexican presidency, the seat of the Ramada Yaqui Council of Elders has until today been held by a woman.

There, in addition to the lands contemplated in the original decree issued by Lázaro Cárdenas, nearly 15,000 hectares of land, the construction of the aqueduct and the management of the irrigation area were identified.

There, Claudia Sheinbaum assured that she would continue with her constitutional reform project regarding indigenous rights.

“I reaffirm our commitment to continue to honor the history of resistance and dignity of the Yaqui, Indigenous, and Afro-Mexican peoples and recognize their inalienable rights, and I pledge to continue working with you.

“There will never again be a Mexico without indigenous peoples, never again a Mexico that denies its roots, never again a Mexico that cannot provide justice for any Mexican or Mexicans, long live the Yaquis,” the next president said at the event in Guaymas, Sonora.
