Mark Short, cultural specialist and one of the leaders of the Cook Islands National Arts Theatre (CINAT) performing arts team, said the team was doing well and enjoying their time in Hawaii.

Short and CINAT team participated in the 13thday
The Pacific Arts and Cultural Festival in Honolulu, Hawaii, is expected to arrive home tonight.

In response to posts on social media about the CINAT team and other delegations being stranded in Hawaii, Short said that if everyone believed everything posted on social media, “the world would be in chaos.”

“The CINAT team did a great job and they enjoyed their last day of shopping in Hawaii.”
Short said they were warmly received by the people of Hawaii, including the Cook Islands community.

The group has visited the factory outlets in Waikele, including the Wet & Wild theme park and jet skiing, surfing, bodyboarding, including riding Harley Davidson motorcycles at Makaha Beach.

They also visited a clinic in Hawaii that promotes healthy foods and local medicines, Short said.

“There is nothing wrong with Hawaii except rumors caused by ignorant sentiment. I wish the Cook Islands well. Showing our love to our people.”
