“We do not think it is necessary to punish Belarusians, restrictions will affect the morale and pro-European sentiment of Belarusians, it is necessary to support the mobility of honest Belarusians and integrate them into European society. I hope that we can find a reasonable solution that will allow us to amend these restrictions so as not to harm honest Belarusians”, said Dz. Kuchinsky.

He noted that he understood Lithuania’s concerns Threats to national security – It is necessary to find opportunities to ensure that Lithuania remains a safe country.

“We also support the need to punish the Lukashenko regime and its cronies, but the fact is that restricting the entry of cars with Belarusian license plates is a big blow to ordinary people, but not Lukashenko regimeThis is a blow to ordinary Belarusians who are actually against the dictatorship and the war (Russia’s war in Ukraine – ELTA). Available data show that 90% of Belarusians are against War with Ukraine“, says Dz. Kuczynski.

He hopes that a compromise can be reached that would give Belarusians who do not support Russian aggression a chance to come to Europe and return.

“Belarusians cannot live alone with the dictator, so the most effective solution is to isolate the regime to the maximum, but at the same time support Belarusian citizens, because we very much need to popularize European values, because now it is the only alternative to ruskij mir (Russian world – ELTA),” said consultant S. Cichanouskaja.

E LTA reminds that from midnight on Thursday a ban on cars registered in Belarus entering Lithuania came into force and, according to the customs department, 24 such vehicles had been stopped by that evening.

Starting at midnight on July 18, 2024, a regulation will come into effect according to which passenger cars with Belarusian registration numbers will no longer be allowed to enter the territory of the European Union (EU).

Exceptions are made for people who hold a Lithuanian residence permit as of August 18 and drive a car registered in Belarus. However, cars owned by legal entities or used for business purposes will not be allowed to cross the border.

Passenger cars already in the EU and Lithuania with Belarusian registration numbers must leave by 2025. Until January 18, such cars can participate in traffic, be imported and registered.

Anyone who drives a car with a Belarusian license plate after the published ban period will be considered to have violated the legal provisions and will be held responsible.

This insurance does not apply to cars with national registration plates that are diplomatic or representative, that use immunity under international law, or that are for personal use by employees of diplomatic missions and their immediate family members.
