The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrea Spinou, announced the news on social networks.
“The former abbreviation KIV, short for the Russian name Chisinau, will no longer appear on flight maps,” Spinu wrote.
Chisinau Airport was previously transferred to the concession of AviaInvest, but it returned to state control on November 23, 2022, following a ruling by the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
Currently, the authorities are again studying the possibility of franchising the airport.
