Manuel “El Chino” Flores, the elected general secretary of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), announced that the left-wing party is “on the campaign trail” and stated that he will seek The PML-N regained the elected positions they had lost.

Flores assured that the political body declares itself “not just a campaign”, but a struggle to defend the right to water, health, sports, culture and other rights.

“The moment is now, starting today, we declare ourselves in a movement, a movement that is more than just an electoral movement, a movement for the right to health, the right to water, the promotion of sports, culture, literature, painting and art. Flores also said that “a courageous FMLN is coming that will face the people and accompany them in the realization of their demands and struggles.”

The leader assured that the party will be ready to recover lost elected posts, legislative assembly posts, mayoral posts and “later the government” because “this is a calculated task, it is a fundamental task, it is a radical task,” he said.

“It will be a territorial FMLN, a territorial leadership, a leadership that is accountable to its people for the work they do,” Flores promised. It is the only party with a structure at the national level, he claimed.

Manuel Flores was elected Secretary General of the FMLN with 5,547 votes (62%), while his opponent, Simon Paz, received 3,441 votes (38%). 57% (9,216) of the 16,086 registered voters went to the polls to vote for the Secretary election.
